Charles Hough Butcher Shop. Sioux Valley Meat Market. It had a full line of meats, fish, poultry and even dill pickles and olives in wooden barrels. Ely Laub Building One of the first brick blocks built in Correctionville, Iowa. The Ely Laub Building was constructed in 1888. It contained a number of businesses including the Columbia Opera House on the upper level. In 1891, it was affected by the Mill Dam Flood and the great fire which destroyed 15 commercial buildings in town. The Laub Block was rebuilt, including the opera house and part of it was remodeled into one story businesses. Some businesses were pharmacies, hardware sales, plumbing, meat markets, general merchandise, furniture, jewelry store, woolen goods, dry goods, offices, opera house, gift store and restaurant. The wooden frame buildings to the west housed many different businesses over the years; including up a theatre, recreation parlor, millinery store, hardware store, meat market, shoe store, ceramic store and many more.
